I wrote His Choice of a Wife ten years ago and it was the first piece of fiction I ever wrote. I just intended to entertain myself by researching and writing something short and sweet that hinted at a quicker resolution to Darcy and Elizabeth’s story after the Hunsford proposal. But then I thought, 'what about Jane and Bingley?' And Lydia still went to Brighton; how is that resolved? How awful could Wickham be? Soon I had the story fully plotted—with twists and romantic longing.
I wrote the book in six months and shared it online before it was ultimately published by another publisher in 2019. Some of you might have read it, but I'm sure it's new to a bunch of you!
Here's the brand new cover!
This cover was done by Stefanie Fontecha at Beetiful Book Covers (beetifulbookcovers.com). It certainly evokes early morning meetings—of a romantic kind or maybe on a field of honor? Here's the paperback full wrap:
I'm so excited for the chance to re-cover, re-edit, and re-release my first book. It will be available November 13 but you can preorder it now!
When a man’s honour is at stake, what is he willing to risk for the woman he loves?
After offering a disastrous marriage proposal and delivering an illuminating letter, Fitzwilliam Darcy never expects to lay eyes on Elizabeth Bennet again. When a chance meeting throws them in each other’s way, Darcy realizes his behaviour needs correcting—and that he might win her heart after all.
Elizabeth Bennet knows she misjudged a worthy man and starts to appreciate Darcy’s redeeming qualities. He wants to make amends, but they both have to forgive the past and overcome their prejudices.
While Elizabeth wonders if what she feels for Darcy is enough to build a life on, Jane and Bingley’s possible reconciliation and Lydia’s ill-conceived trip to Brighton pose their own challenges for two people striving to find their way to love.
But when scandalous news threatens their chance at happiness, will Darcy and Elizabeth’s new bond be shattered, or will their growing affection hold steadfast?
This is a 105,000 word second edition. If you read the first published version, this new version of His Choice of a Wife is not markedly different. You don't need to buy it again. It's been newly edited and had a few scenes moved, but it is the same story.
Leave a comment below for the chance to win an ebook copy of the new version of His Choice of a Wife. The giveaway ends October 31.
